LHR Vs LGW

Mon May 07, 2001 10:46 am

A friend of mine is travelling to England in 2 weeks and is quite undecided about which airport he wants to fly into. I have no clue about the airport situation in England and thought I'd help him out by asking for some help on the congestion or ease with which one can go through either airport. Jm operates their A340 into LHR because they say it makes for easier travel, BA operates a 777 into LGW saying it makes for easier passage too. If any of you guys have any knowledge of either or both airports could you let me know. Thanks in advance.

This topic was done less then a month ago I believe, so search this forum's archives. Or just take my advice and go to LHR.
Sometimes I go about in pity for myself and all the while a great wind carries me across the sky.

Both airports have easy access to central London by train.

LGW in my opinion is more user friendly.

I believe transport through LHR is cheaper.

i fly out of London frequently, and would always use LGW out of choice. LHR is just too congested, long holds to land and waits to depart are not uncommon. More often than not I am in and out of LGW much quicker. LHR is a little better for transfers to London, but then if you'va already flown 5,000 miles what's a few more?

Iwould rather use LGW as it is less crowded than LHR at even it is a few miles form london less delays and less people but if you like more a/c then use LHR  Smile hope this helps cheaper to fly inot LGW too
