Any Chance For The B 767-400LR?

Tue May 08, 2001 1:25 pm

As you may know, Boeing has shelved the B 767-400LR.

Any chance for the B 767-400LR of being launched? I think it would be a good competitor of the A 330-200. Coz it can fly longer.

Actually, how far can the proposed B 767-400LR fly?

DL and CO fly the 764er, and I doubt we will be seeing the 764lr. With the new sonic cruiser coming out I doubt that Boeing will want to build a plane about the same size, but slower speed and less range.

They fly the B 767-400ER, not LR.

Actually, can the shelved B 767-400LR fly from HKG to SFO? How far can it fly?

Isn't 767-400ER has the longest range in 767 family? I think it can fly up to 11000km.

If 767-400ER is the only 767 that has the greatest range, then how come there's B767-400LR?

The B 767-400LR has been shelved and it supposed to have the longest range of all B 767s.

The A332 still could fly longer, than the B764LR. The sale success of this paper aircraft wasn't really that big. So, I doubt, that Boeing will launch this bird again. On the other hand the B764ER is apparently very well suited for the needs of large US airlines. CO and DL are apparently very happy with it.

Isn't there an African Airlines (forgot which one) orderd the 767-400LR ? I remember reading somewhere that the 767-400LR will have Rolls Royce Trent 600 engines (same as on the proposed 747X). Was the order cancelled ?

It cannot fly at all, because it does not exist! Did that answer your question?
And it will never fly as nobody is interested in it and Boeing already declared the project is gone.

If memory serves me well, it was Kenia Airways, who ordered 2 or 3 A764LR.

Yes it was Kenya Airways that had a letter of intent for the 767-400LR on the provision that the project was launched. Despite a 'heavy' marketing campaign for the aircraft, only Kenya showed any interest at all. The project was shelved the same day as the 747 Stretch projects which received no letters of intent, and the project leader has now moved on to the sonic cruiser.
I remember when the DC-3 was new!

Boeing will have sucess with its new 764LR.
This plane is the first choice for Airlines for which the 747 and 340 is to big. The MD11 was a nice idea but in passenger configuration not very economic. The 764LR
will fill a gap in the Boeing products. With 763LR, 757-200LR and the new 764LR Boeing is well prapared against A340 and A330

The 767-200ER model has the longest range over the high capacity 300ER & 400ER models.

After Boeing shelved the -400LR, Kenya switched it's order for 3 767-300ERs. The range of the 767-400LR would have been around the 767-300ERs range, so say just over 6,000nm.

So, it has slightly longer range than the B 767-400ER......

Bitze:

I agree! I think they will launch it sometime later. It fills the gap between the B 777-200ER and the B 777-300ER.

No offense to TEDSKI, but United Airline must get excited over anyone who can tell him that the sky is blue if he thinks this statement is ingenious:

"The 767-200ER model has the longest range over the high capacity 300ER & 400ER models.

No offense. But Have you seen a few of his posts in the past? As well as replies? I think it is quite logical and I would like to further discuss a few items with him.
