Then...the Fokker F-28/F-100 series.
Now...the Bombardier CRJ series.

Avro RJ-100 would take my vote.

The CRJ. The Avro maybe the most comfortable for pax but is the elast fuel effiecent and is a maintenance hog. The CRJ is fast, long ranged, and quiet.

Comort for passengers is superior aboard the NW Jet Airlink Avro RJ 85.

Bombardier CRJ-900. Brand new and gorgeous. By the way, is the ERJ-145 actually the same thing as the Brasillia? I could have sworn they were two seperate planes. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

CRJ, by leaps and bounds.

ERJ is way too loud and too cramped. Just a brasilia with jets. It can climb, though.

ARJ just a marketing scheme from the BAE 146. Its a great jet to take out of Aspen since no other can make engine out climb requirements, but 4 engines is just too many.

Dornier 328-Jet - too slow. The only difference between that and the prop version is a few extra knots and four less levers in the cockpit.

CRJ can hold 50 people VERY comfortably, and is economical, not to mention faster than the ERJ, and cheaper to operate. Quietest engines, as well.

I kind of lean towards the CRJ myself.

Speaking of which, can kind of RJ's can I expect to see in DFW?

CRJ200/700 series. it is very efficent, low operating costs aircraft.
BAE146/Avro XX actually should be accounted as normal airliners, not regonal. they have very advanced engineering, wide fuselage, and they cannot compete with CRJ/ERJ. Avro is very niche acft, it is perfect for short takeoff/landing like in London City, but not for typical routes served by CRJ/ERJ.

From my travel experience, the CRJ.

Plus, it's Canadian. Hockey, beer AND regional jets? You gotta love it.

Bombayhog,

the "Brasilia" is actually the propeller-driven Embraer 120, the ERJ-135/145 do not have a brand name like that as far as I know, but someone here in the forum referred to them as "Jungle Jet" and I must admit I like that term.

You guys voted for different jets from a passenger`s perspective, from a rampers view the CRJ offers simply not enough volume in the cargo hold, especially when used to feed large hubs or doing weekend charter work.
Not to mention the extremely noisy APU.

The ERJ is much easier to load and has slightly more volume. Another point for the ERJs is the high gear strut which makes it much easier to place some chocks around the wheels.

The AVRO`s offer by far the largest volume in the cargo compartment but they are a pain in the ass to load (because of the low gear the cargo doors are at a very low level, too).

Just my 0.02cents.

My eyes say the CRJ, my neck says the ERJ, and my legs say the ARJ. But if we're allowed to pick birds in development, I say Fairchild-Dornier 728JET. S-S-S-S-S-SASSY!!!!

CrewChief32,

VERY intersting perspective! Just goes to show just how much actually goes into an airplane.

One thing about the CRJ regarding the APU -

The exhaust port is out the side of the airplane which causes two undesirable effects.

1. It is VERY noisy on the ground, as CrewChief32 pointed out.

2. If the aircraft is pointed white (Comair) the exhaust from the APU leaves a huge black streak across the back of the airplane. Three things would solve this: Don't use APU in the air, not very practicle...move the APU to the stinger of the tail like the CRJ-700 has, again, not practicle...or by simply painting the lower tail a dark color like black or dark blue, that black streak is not visible.

It doesn't detract from the performance of the airplane, but I've heard countless passengers worried because their plane has "been on fire."

I've only been on the ERJ. I'd say it's ok as long as you sit on the 'A'-, or sinsle seat-side.

I'll get to go on a CRJ in July if the Comair strike is resolved by then.

Don't know when I'll ever get to go on a F-DRJ or ARJ.

Canadair Regional Jet. I only have experience on the CRJ-200ER though and it was the best!

The Avro has the WORST autopilot (brol van de GB ) and the thing is soooo slow, it is guzzling fuel and in short is uneconomical.

The CRJ is quite difficult to fly and shows poor aerodynamical design

The Embraer145 is in my opinion the best, sleek, fast and just gorgeous to see and fly. just my opinion, but I know quite a bit of guys and gals on the Avro and CRJ and they are not quite happy with their planes. As a matter of fact, most Air Nostrum pilots prefer the F50 to the CRJ...

have to fly,

Operating costs, as a whole are cheaper on the CRJ than the ERJ and ARJ. Also, the CRJ is the fastest of the RJ's.

A330: I'm just curious, why exactly do you say the CRJ is quite difficult to fly and shows poor aerodynamical design?

According to Lane Wallace (successor to Gordon Baxter at Flying magazine), who's a Grumman Cheetah pilot herself, the Canadair Challenger 604 is very easy to fly. A CRJ has the same cockpit and is only mildly stretched.

My personal favorite is the CRJ700 and CRJ900. Raising the windows and relocating the APU really makes the CRJ a much better plane.

I'll be flying on a Skyways 328JET this summer and I'm excited to see what it's like.

Please,"Jungle Jets" is way down the line! OK that they don´t have a "nick" like the EMB-120 ,but that just sounds awful! These aircrafts have nothing to do with jungle. Some airlines give nicer names like Rio-Sul "Jet Class", and AEagle (can´t remember).....

Anyway I think the ERJ-145 and ERJ-135 are much better talking about costs and flexibility. I don´t like the 2-1 configuration though.
ARJs are surely more confortable and the CRJs are just about there too, although they look a little conservative.

I´m very axious to see the new ERJ-145LR and the ERJ-140s! They sure are going to spice up the competetion!!!

Best Regards,
Copacabana
