Embraer Researching Streched ERJ-170

Fri May 11, 2001 3:01 am

Hey,

There is an interesting article in this week's Flight International about Embraer briefing airlines on a slightly streched (1.78m) ERJ-170 which would seat 86 people in a single class configuration. It would retain the ERJ-170's wing (the ERJ-190 has a new one)

One of the main targets for it is the BA/Qantas combined regional jet order.

BTW, is the ERJ-170 running on schedule for its 1st flight at the end of this year? Last I heard was one or 2 months ago that it was. Any update(s)? I truly can't wait to see it, especially in the LX Livery. Wheter it will operate into London City is another question. Embraer promised LX it would but I still wonder.

What do you think?

Kind Regards,

Hey,

In other RJ news, Fairchild is considering adding winglets to the Dornier 928JET.

It seems that Embraer want to build an airliner for every seat configutation: 35,40,50,70,86,100...will the next be a shorten ERJ 170 for 60pax?
