If you go through the postings on this topic, how many people have complained of the discomfort that is felt when smoking is allowed on a flight? Smokers have the right to smoke, but they don't have the right to impose that habit on other people. This is something that they can't seem to understand when smoking is banned in a given place. The immediate thought is that their rights are infringed, and not that others are protected. Go figure that Texas wanted to start their own...
Think of it this way - there's a reason why smoking was banned on most North American carriers a long time ago.
