DFW Near-Miss: Was AA Plane MD-80 Or Fk?

Wed May 16, 2001 2:34 pm

Was the American jet involved in the near-miss @ Dallas on Saturday a Fokker 100 or MD-80?

I've heard both.

Anybody know any more?

MD-80s, I believe. Some report also said it's a MD-80.

I thought MD-80 at first, as well.

But Just Planes.com reports it as being the smaller Fokker 100 jet of American Airlines.

It was a Fokker, I heard it on the world news and on Fox in DFW. They never did say what the small freight was although who knows what it was?

American Airlines does not use the F100 on the DFW-ORD route.

you know what is strange  Smile AA uses the B777 on the DFW-ORD route as well

Did anybody hear this incident on the DFW LIVE-ATC-website?

I sure would have liked to hear this incident. Fortunately it was just a near-miss, and nobody got hurt!

It was a F100. It was flying to MDW.

I was pretty sure NBC Today reported it was an MD80 and it was going to ORD, not MDW.

"The American Fokker 100 carrying 56 passengers and four crew members was on its takeoff roll at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Friday night when a small cargo plane turned onto the runway, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The crew of American Flight 2394 quickly lifted off over the cargo aircraft and continued its flight to Chicago's Midway Airport without incident, the airline said."

Thanks for clearing that up Purdue, that is what an AA official said on the local news here at DFW. Who knows what type of plane the other one was?

More confusion about types ........... I see where AirlinersOnLine.com today said it was an A.A. "Fokker F.28 Mk.0100 (Fokker 100)".

What is that?

Is the "stretched" Fokker F.28 (Fellowship) called an F100? Didn't realize.....

Airliners also claims the incursion incident happened on FRIDAY, May 11. (Which I'm almost sure is wrong; it was Sat. PM).

Confirmation please? ................
