What Is The Difference Between ER/ERX/LR/X?

Wed May 16, 2001 3:04 pm

Anybody know what's the difference between

ER = Extended Range
ERX = Extended Range .....
LR = Long range

Like B777-200LR/B777-300ER (I think they're the same)
and B767-400ER/B767-400ERX (I suppose one of them flies longer)

And what does X (like 767-400ERX) means?

-200 = regular range
-200ER = extended range
-200ERX = extended range but still in planning states (like 7X7)
-200LR = Super Duper Extended Range (Long Range)

hehe, thank you for the answer, N863DA.

But I thought ER and LR are the same.

-200ER = extended range
-200ERX = still in experiemental - presumably to become the LR eventually.
-200LR = It may instead stand for longer range?

Either way the 777-200ER has less range (around 1500nm or 2000nm less, I believe) than the 777-200LR... the new, 'next-generation' 777.

As I say, I assume that the 767-400ERX will become the 767-400LR when it's launched. (This is just an educated guess, however)

All of them, of course, have super spiffy jolly extended range - just some have more than others.  Smile
