If You Could Fly One Plane, Which One?

Thu May 17, 2001 2:51 pm

Here's one for you all!

If you could be at the controls of just one aircraft in your life, whether you fly professionally or not, which one would it be and why?

For me it would be the 747-400. Just being at the controls of the sheer massive size of such a machine would be incredible to me. There is something contradictive to me about 400 plus tons of a machine that flies. It's an easy choice for me since I have loved the 747 for pretty much my entire life.

What about you? Remember! You can only choose one! And tell why. Enjoy!
I'm not a real aeronautical engineer, I just play one on Airliners.net.

I would pick a Cessna 172.

I have been waiting and waiting since october, this is a newfound obsession for me, to learn how to fly.

I will be flying home next tuesday and hope to start my training soon after that.

Sure, I could say I want to fly a 747 or a 777 but right now, the only plane i'd like to get my hands on is the sweet little cessna 172 I will be learning on this summer.

Does it really matter?

I mean: my goal would be to fly an airplane. Full stop. Maybe I could say I'd like a jet rather than a prop, maybe a huge bird rather than a smaller one. Maybe supersonic.
I love the simplicity of a Cessna. I love the massivity of a 744. I very much love most the shape of an M11. The "fatty" 732, and the stretched 753, 764, 773, 321, 346. I love the music of JT8D turbines. And the symphony of Concorde's after-burners.

Who minds? What I'd love is to get my license and fly by myself.

That's what matters.

I guess I'd like to fly a 777, mainly because of its flightdeck.

Right now since I do not fly that much would have to be the ARJ. It looks nice and is not too big or small. And i also watch them fly over my house everyday. I like the way it looks.
