Spirit DC-9s

Mon May 21, 2001 10:44 pm

Hey guys,
I was just wondering, where have NKs DC-9s gone? I look on most of their routes and see only -80s. Does anyone know what routes NK still operates their -9s on?

Thanks,
-Tom

Tom, forget Spirit. This is one second-rate airline. Take my word for it.

Well, let's just give him the benefit of the doubt and think that maybe he is just interested in photographing the DC9 equipment, and needs to schedule himself accordingly.

Well I saw one the yesterday in GSO, but it was doing a charterflight to Alantic City so I don't know if the DC-9's are doing Schedule service.

I am pretty sure they still have most of their 9s out there. Knowing them, they probably don't even know themselves what plane is on what route.

I wouldn't be sad if they took their -9s out of service at all. I flew them in April 2000, ISP-TPA and they had to plan an unscheduled stop at MYR for re-fueling. Other than the fact that the seatbelt light and The DC-9 (being a cramped plane to begin with) was wearing a very old interior, the service wasn't that bad.

The -9s are being retired and replaced by M80s from what I have heard 'round these parts.

I'm guessing you'll find Spirit to be a lot like other niche carriers such as Air Tran, ATA, and Continental.

Just like those others, Spirit is probably ok. But don't forget, you get what you pay for.

Never, I repeat NEVER, take Spirit from MYR to LGA!!

The Spirit baggage belt at LGA runs for about 10 ft.

120 odd pax on the flight.

Everybody on the flight checks their golf clubs.

Do the math...

Spirit is really horrendous and has caused me a lot of heartache.

Lost my baggage because the little red luggage tag they affix to your bag came off and the bag somehow made its way onto a JetBlue flight from FLL to JFK. I was doing FLL to LGA. Once I got to LGA, no one at Spirit had any clue about anything and for the next 4 days, well Spirit doesn't like to pick up their phones, so yeah the nxt 4 days were really frustarting, untill JetBlue called to tell me my bag without any labes was out their terminal at kennedy. Customer service at spirit is absolutely dysfunctional, and phones just don't get picked up there....anywhere, detroit to myrtle beach, fort lauderdale to atlantic city.

wrote the airline a letter, never got any type of responce. plane was late 2 hours, but that was LGA's fault. spirit made no accomodations while waiting at fll though.

what an amateur operation
