British Asia Airways Livery?

Tue May 22, 2001 2:12 am

As many of you know, due to the restrictions on Taiwan by China, 'flag carriers' aren't allowed to fly there. Because of this, many airlines have sister companies (which are really just the same as the main company) that aren't classed as a nations flag carrier (eg Swissair Asia, Air France Asie etc).
They also carry different liveries to the main company.
So my question is this; since the nice original British Asia Airways livery has been destroyed by the world schemes, will the a/c be painted into th now standard colours, or will they have to wear a different livery?

Cheers,
Jamie.

Both British Asia Airways 744's will remain in the Chelsea Rose colours indefinitely. So, at least one of the 'world schemes' will live one....(I guess two if you count the one that's being adopted fleet wide).

What, you mean they're gonna keep the gunshot wound livery on the BAA a/c?! Big grin

Hi guys,

Not too long ago in Singapore, I saw a BAA aircraft wearing the titan livery, and the other is the Chelsea rose one. So not both of the BAA aircrafts are in Chelsea rose colors.

They will both be in Chelsea Rose colours. Even if one has to be painted.

Ther original two aircraft (not original, original) are G-CIVA and CIVB which are in the Chelsea Rose colours. They had been using CIVP in the Tartan colours yes.

However on many different occasions I've seen normal BA coloured aircraft operating BA025 so it would seem they may get rid of BAA. Anyway BA have just said ALL aircraft will be painted in the Union Crap colours.

Have you heard that both the Atlas 744F's operating for BA will become G-GSSA and G-GSSB .

Question

Tue May 22, 2001 10:07 am

I have a question...where do these rules exist and to what nations do they apply??? Air Canada and Canadian both flew into Taiwan as well as mainland china and neither of them had an ASIA version.

Hi Slawko,

The same question was asked before, and apparently the answer was that the "rules" didn't affect the privately-owned airlines(?)

Under those circumstances, one would have thought at least BA could fly in without having to paint a different scheme.

I haven't a clue I'm afraid!

Actually, it is airlines who are recognised as being their country's flag-carriers who have to change livery to avoid offending China. BA are recognised as the UK's flag-carrier, so that's why the livery is different.
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

Wouldnt it make more sense if BA Asia use the "Rendezvous" tails on their Taiwan flights? besides that, its not necessary to fly the "altered liveries" to Taiwan, as I noticed an Air France cargo flight arrive at Karachi from Taipei(nonstop) wearing the normal AF livery, infact read my post "Air France operating full livery to Taiwan?" and youll get your answer, as one member there said, it is quite a farce, i dont know why China are accepting this nonsense they should just allow airlines to fly there in their original schemes Smile
.....up there with the best!

So why does Singapore Airlines fly there as "Singapore Airlines", since it is the flag carrier of Singapore?

I hope they do get rid of British Asia Airways, what a waste of time and the inside of their aircraft is very old and datad. (compared to British Airways' standards)

They gave me food poisoning too! :-(
