What Do U Think Of Bwia?

Wed May 23, 2001 12:05 pm

I am Frequent Flyer on BWIA West Indies Airways. I have never had a problem with the airline.. They have great ground servic, inflight service is of the best, great warm friendly flight attendants, nice and getting even better fleet of aircraft. They do have their difficulties at times like any other airline. but hardly anything uncalled for. I never had bad experiences with them.. Some people do "bad-talk" the airline and i want to know what is the general outlook on BWIA.

Never flown BWIA, but hopefully one day I will fly them and hopefully (even though I doubt this will ever happen) they will return to SJU.

They did? Most probably it was a special charter or something because they dont operate scheduled services into SJU. But it would have been good to see a BWIA in SJU again.

yes it was a special charter flight.. it was nice though because they used their new 737-800 in the new scheme they have been sporting.....

I once flew BWIA from Miami to St. Lucia and back. I liked the flight and I even more liked St. Lucia. I was not too fond of the airport though, immigration took forever.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the airline, but then I've never flown it either. I haven't heard anything bad though and If I was given the opportunity to fly BWIA, I would. This is just my opinion, but I think the livery is kind of ugly. That is the only thing wrong with the airline and that is not a serious issue.

I think they are better now than they used to be,
tho I haven't experienced them since the recent lay-offs. Time to switch the Tristars for something newer tho.
It would also help if they became more closely associated with Star than they are already (via their UAL code-shares). They sit right in the middle of
the AC-UAL/Mexicana/Varig Atlantic networks.

It is true their new scheme does take a bit of getting used to. BUt i do think i am beggining to like it more than the old scheme. As regards their L1011, they are trying to get these aircraft replaced. SOme sources say that they sold two.. and the remaining two are presently being leased from the company they bought them from.. I think they are looking at the 767 as a replacement, can anyone back me up on that?

BWIA is a great airline. Excellent service, brand new planes (eventually they will replace the elderly TriStars but they have not yet named the replacement), a top-notch safety record and an on-time performance which, although not perfect, is creditable for a small airline with limited resources. Above all, its years of dedicated service to the Caribbean is something to be justly proud about.

BWIA is certainly very good overall. Their new facilities at Piarco will do them even better.
