What Aircraft Does Qantas Use On SYD-Taipei

Thu May 24, 2001 2:06 pm

Hi everybody.

I was wondering what aircraft Qantas use on their Sydney Taipei service codesharing with EVA Air.
On their site, it says it is the Boeing 747SP, but many of their news articles also say that it is the Boeing 767-300ER

Does anybody know/experience this flight?
Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Never done the flight but yesterdays QF135 was a 747-200, todays was an SP. I have also seen the 300's doing the flight, but it is scheduled as an SP flight.
Basically what ever the capacity is required will determine what they use.
The code share on EVA out of BNE uses MD11's.

Hi Jupiter2

Thanks alot for that.
How often do they decide? Every day?
Were you at the airport today or did you just check the schedule?

Thanks

I work nearby the airport so often get lots of trivial info such as that. Did you know we have an RAF L1011 here, it was suppose to have left yesterday but its still here.
As for the aircraft changes I would assume these are done within a rasonable time frame although its not really a big deal as its the same tech crew they just need a few more cabin crew. However yesterdays may have been because there was an SP at the base having some maintenance done.

I flew the leg last October TPE-SYD (went BNE-TPE in the MD11 for the experience).

767-300ER with the old business class seats. Service was terrible - Continental breakfast in business class with pastries that were really crappy. I had a decent breakfast when I got off the plane it was so bad!! And I usually eat anything going!!!

EVA service is of a much higher standard, although ecven the old QF seats are better than the EVA ones.

Qantas currently employs B747SP-38 between Taipei and Sydney for 2001 summer timetable. This route was previously done by B767-338.

Btw, some Taiwanese are complaning that EVA Air's seat smells and bad and dirty. is this true?

I flew on EVA Air from BNE-TPE and return, but to answer your question, no... the seats were very clean, and I found them quite comfortable (maybe because I am smaller).

Thanks alot.
My Aunty is thinking of coming in Dec., should I tell her to give it a try? Or just the EVA AIr one?
What is the QF service like on this route?
Food? Are the old seats (on the 763 and 747Sp) comfortable?

Thanks
