AC Announced Second Fare Hike In As Many Weeks

Fri May 25, 2001 6:38 am

AC will add $15 for one way travelled. This will mean extra $30 for round trip tickets. This comes on the heel of a fare hike announced just a while ago for the summer season. Ouch...

This is not just a mere fare hike out of the blue.
This is just a fuel surcharge of 15$ dollars one way to help AC cope with the rising fuel prices.

Dont get me wrong, I too am completley against it.
I believe Milton is comparing it to the same surcharge that the major US carriers have implemented.

Apparently it will also fluctuate with the rise and fall of oil prices.

"...it will also fluctuate with the rise and fall of oil prices. "
I am not holding my breath on Milton getting rid of it anytime soon. Combined with the new airport tax soon to be levied, this will hurt travelers on budget.

If you are paying 500+ dollars to get somewhere 15 or 30 bucks is not going to stop you from going...and if it is then you should not be spending money like that.

I don't see why people are A)surprises, and B) upset over this...AC kept their promise and did not raise fairs for one year. But they have a business to run and they have to pay the bills! It's not like the old days when they were a crown corporation and did not have to worry about making a profit, buecause of course our taxes made up for any losses...This is not different except this time you know what your money is paying for, and back then the government just took it.
