Air China LHR To PEK

Fri May 25, 2001 8:13 pm

Ive got a relative flying with Air China from LHR to PEK next month. Any idea what type of aircraft will be used? Anyone got good, or bad, experiences on this route with this airline?

They use the 747-400s for LHR flights.

I agree with the others , it will be a 744. I think this is a very popular route so the a/c will probably be close to capacity. I've never heard bad things about Air China, so it will probably be a good flight.

I've flown them from BKK-PEK and they were pretty good, but the flight was only 3 1/2 hours so I'm not sure how their longhaul stacks up.

thanks for the replies so far. My relative had heard that their safety record was "questionable". Personally I doubt this as they wouldnt be cleared by the CAA to operate into the UK and certainly I'm not aware of them having any problems - anyone know anything about this?

I thought it was:
Air China- good safety record, bad service
China Airlines- very poor safety record, good service.

BTW, I often forget that Air China fly to the UK as I never see them at LHR. Do they have really early departures and really late arrivals or something?!

Not too sure about that. The flight in question leaves LHR at 1730 on Saturday evening

they used to have PEK-LHR services once a week, i think it was 1997 something, the service was via
HKG instead of non-stop. i found there were special offer of a LHR-HKG return for 229 pounds only. pretty attractive ha.

I think Air China doesn´t fly this route. British Airways flies the route with 777 and 747-400.

I think what Englandair meant is that BA used to serve LHR-HKG-PEK not Air China.
Air China of course serves LHR-PEK.
