When I see a post with those magic letter L1049 I always like to contribute... Infact although I use the CV990 as a username I'm a real fan of the Constellation family, perhaps because when I was a small kid the first aircraft I remember visiting was a TAP L1049G-82. Since then I always like to talk, chat, read and look to those beauties. One of my dreams is one day to fly in a Super Constellation, I hope I can manage. TAP was aclient of those planes in the past and I always looked to them closely. TAP ordered their first L1049's in 1953, competing against the DC-6B, they ordered 3 ( CS-TLA/B and C ) all of them came without tip-tanks and weather radar, latter TAP leased one Seaboard & Western L1049H-82 during 1 year ( CS-TLD ). In 1961 TAP bought 2nd. hand another 2 L1049's ex: THAI and Aerovias Guest ( CS-TLE and TLF ) both with tip tanks and Bendix weather radar. Also at that time TAP upgraded their other 3 Super Constellations with weather radar too. In 1967 TAP sold all their Constellations, some of them played an important role in Biafra war ( CS-TLA and CS-TLC ).
I hope you like this information.
