A Question For Qantas Experts & Fans.

Tue May 29, 2001 9:24 am

Gentlemen & ladies...
First, an explanation is in order here. This August, a milestone in my life will occur. My 40th birthday. And it had me wondering which airframes were delivered to carriers on the day I was born. So I did a search of Boeing's website and found just one aircraft was delivered that fateful day.  Wink/being sarcastic A Qantas 707 or 720. So I searched a little further & found it was QF's tenth 707 or 720. But that's where I ran into a wall. It didn't say the serial number, line number or the registration. Does anyone here know what it is or was then?? It could have been a 707-138, -338 or a 720-038. You may think I have too much time on my hands...maybe I do.
But my curiousity is getting the better of me. The delivery date was August 24th, 1961. Any info you can share with me is & always greatly appreciated. Thanks & regards.

As per the last post, if it is that EBJ, it was last in service with Misr Overseas Airways of Egypt and has been derelict at Cairo since 1988.
Sort of approriate I guess - at 40 you'd be feeling a little derelict as well, huh??!!! (Nah - just joking!)

Many happies! Cheers/Regards. Al.
