Winglet Angle?

Sun Jun 03, 2001 9:07 pm

Here's a question that i suppose most of you allready know the answer of: Are the winglets pointing straight up in a 90 degree angel or not. It's very difficult to tell by the pictures.  Confused  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

This one looks to be pointing i a 45 degree angle

Quick answer: No, they are not straight up.

Search the Tech/Ops forum for info about winglets.

Depends On Aircraft

On the B744 the A330 and A340 they're not straight up. On the 320 series they more or less are.

Enough said? I've also seen most of SR's M11 and the winglets are pretty much straight up although not 100%.

But I guess you're right. It must be the camera angle!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Guess it's the camera position. The 747's winglets are more straight up than those of the Airbuses but they're not really straight up. The MD11's are more straight up. The Airbuses have'em almost 45° to the outside. I'm gonna find some more pics.

What happened to which MD11? The one with the fire engines around it. I don't know more than what Pixair wrote as a comment. Or what do you mean?
