How Many Airlines Use The DC-9 Freighter?

Mon Jun 04, 2001 9:50 pm

Is the DC-9F very profitable in the cargo market?

Can't hold very much cargo (when compared to other aircraft).

What airlines have this variant? And how much can it hold?

Thanks.  Smile Smile Smile

Airborne Express
USA Jet
Kitty Hawk
GrandAire
Evergreen........

all use the DC-9. The 32 series can carry up to 31,000lbs. USA Jet flies car parts in the 10 series. I think Airborne flies the 50 series.

Rugged aircraft and ideal for mid-size markets.

I'm pretty sure that Emery has a few -30F series.
I remember seeing one at LAX a few years back. Also, didn't American Int'l (aka Kalitta) have a couple as well?
Regards.

American Int'l/Kalitta is history...KittyHawk just recently got rid of theirs and went to an all 727-200F fleet.
