What Is Does "rotate" Mean?

Wed Jun 06, 2001 10:15 pm

I have seen this term used several times in the pictures at this site, and I have never been able to figure out what it means. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks.

"Rotate" is what the non-flying pilot calls out to the flying pilot when it is time to lift the nose to take off. Rotating speed varies based on aircraft and fuel load, but a 737-300 rotates at about 130-140 knots. Hope this helps.
