AA 738's At LaGuardia

Thu Jun 07, 2001 12:21 pm

When I was sitting in the Admirals Club at La Guardia this morning (10:30-12:00), something fairly strange happened. A 737-800 of AA was taking via tow-truck to a vacant area of the tarmac. The plane had no passengers on board, but this happened at least two other times in the period that I was there. Does anybody happen to know anything about this?

Probably needed the gate space so they towed the aircraft to a remote area to make room for another.

Correct, Working in LGA. We dont have enough gates so when planes arrive if they're not scheduled to depart right away they are towed to what is called the "hangar line". Right infront of the hangars until its time for it to depart.. This happens all night when we have at least 15-20 arriving flights and only 8 gates.
As soon as everyone is off, they are towed away.
