Andy, I can find no reference to BEA ever operating the Britannia. They certainly had one on non-revenue demo from BOAC with BOAC crew but for no more than a few flights and, from time to time, BKS Britannias flew the odd BEA service in place of a u/s aircraft or in times of industrial action.
No one mentioned the Rotodyne, in which BEA expressed an interest and had some demos. There are photos of the aircraft in flight in BEA colours but I can't find evidence that these were anything other than artist's airbrush illustrations.
