Lufthansa's On-time Record

Wed Jun 13, 2001 11:21 pm

Would anybody please provide me with some information about Lufthansa's on-time record. From what I see here in HKG, I think they have an excellent one because they seldom arrive more than 30 minutes later than schedule. I'm going to fly them later this month to Paris (HKG-FRA-CDG) and back (CDG-MUC-HKG) so I would appreciate any info.

Thanks in advance

Lufthansa, or for that matter any other airline in Europe, is "always" late on intra-Europe routes. If they are not "late" they have made the schedule to allow for at least a 30 minutes delay without actually showing a delay, if you see what I mean.

Admittedly, this is in 99% of the cases not due to the airlines, but rather to the congested European airspace, coupled with an antique and buerocratic control system.

Anyway, your trip should be nice, just make sure you have plenty of connection time in Frankfurt and Munich.

Oh hell.

I'm going for a transit in Munich and the layover time is just 1 hour 15 minutes. Is that going to be sufficient?

It can be tough.
I normally transfer in Frankfurt, and most often have 1h 20 min according to the schedules. So far I have not missed a connection myself, but its happening colleagues every week.
I think (I don't know) that Munich should be a bit better.

Good Luck and don't worry, you'll get there in one way or another.....

Of course it should be enought ime.
Often there's only about 45 minutes transfer time at FRA and you can make it.
They might also wait for connecting pax sometimes.

although MUC is often severely affected by southern european ATC which is the worst in europe, it is designed to offer connection times of only 35 minutes, so 1h 15 shouldn´t be a problem...

have a nice trip

Look at it this way, if you're incredibly lucky you'll miss your connection and have to spend the night hanging around some beer gardens and seeing the sights. This is one one of the best towns in Germany.
