Delta Begins JFK-Cairo-Dubai Service On Saturday

DL are set to start their JFK-CAI-DXB flights from 16th June, is this the first time a US carrier will be operating to the UAE? what aircraft will they use on the route Smile

Delta will be using the MD-11.

Pan Am flew to Dubai on their FRA- BOM services in the 1980s before they made FRA - BOM nonstop.

Does anyone know where the MD-11's are being pulled from to fly these routes? I think delta is also using MD-11's on the JFK- Tel Aviv service as well. Are they being taken from domestic ops?

I know that at least one MD-11 will be coming off the ATL-ATH non-stop run which has been discontinued.
I am sure that they are from International service and not domestic since the forward cabin is configured with Business Elite seats in International and regular first class on domestic.

The only M11 domestic services are LAX-CVG, LAX-ATL and JFK-ATL tags off international flights, plus the daytime MCO rotations.
