KLM To Europe

Thu Jun 14, 2001 1:12 am

I will be flying with KLM this summer from Montreal to Amsterdam (B747) and then to Bucharest(B737). Any of you flew with KLM recently? How is the service like? Anything in particular? Any chance I could get the jump seat?
Thank you

Last June I flew MSP-AMS then AMS-KBP (Kiev) 747 and 737. On the MSP-AMS flight I flew PH-BUU. Three hours in the flight I asked the FA if I could visit the flight deck. It was no problem. I ended up talking to the pilots for one hour. I did not ask about siting in the jump seat while landing. Enjoy your trip!!!!!!

Conti you should definately ask for a cockpit visit Big grin
usually KLM pilots love it when people come and see the flightdeck.

you will probably fly their 747 so go for it.
a huge chance of success  Big thumbs up

secondly the service of KLM is usually good. not perfect like some of the asian airlines but definately not bad.
you will definately have beautifull FA's  Smile

have a great trip

Ask for a view fo the cockpit earlyer in the flight so the attendant can pick a moment when it is most convenient. When the workload is high, cockpit visits are usually kept brief. I have not heard of anyone riding jumpseat unless your related or an employee.

On European flights, do take your own food, though. KLM will serve only a single sandwich. Depending on time of day, it will be frozen or dry as a bone (at least that is my experience). Drinks are usually provided once or twice (depending on the length of the flight).
I wish I were flying

Federal regulations in the U.S. do not allow cockpit visits by any airline in their territory. This is to prevent hijackings and other stuff.Only the flight attendants and the pilots(obviously) are allowed into the cockpit.

You will have an overall good experience. I only suggest eat something before because in recent years the food quality at KLM has somehow decreased on long haul flights.
