Air France Need To Fly To YVR.

Sun Jun 06, 1999 1:20 pm

Hey!

Ok, Air France has flights from CDG to YYZ & YUL in
Canada using A340s and B747 aircraft. Now, does
anybody know if they're planning to fly into Vancouver?
During the summer months especially, there are flights
to Paris from YVR by charter airlines and Air Canada.
Other than that, there's not much service to Paris
from Western Canada. I would think if Air France
started CDG-YVR service, it would be a profitable
route. What does everybody think?

Sincerely,

YVR (Richard)

Hey! I think thats a great idea! They should fly daily [ or twice] with B747-400 [if the have them] or the A340. What plane do you think they will use?

Hello!

I think Air France would probably use the A340.

Take Care,

There is no business between Vancouver and Paris to justify a flight, much less a direct flight, much less jumbo direct flight, much less a daily jumbo direct flight. Even Air Canada operates only a 767 from Toronto to Paris once daily. There just aren't many people in Vancouver that want to go to Paris and vice versa. Air France itself only operates an Airbus A-310 from Paris to Toronto. It's all about demographics. The French don't have much in common with the west coast of Canada. Vancouver-Hong Kong a 747, Vancouver-Paris a regional jet. Since a regional jet can't fly that far, there is no flight. That is what connecting flights are for.

Hello !

I'd like to see Air France flying to YVR too !
But the problem is that a B767 or an A310 aren't able to fly that far.

So the market must be too small to carry an A340, a 777 or a 747-400.

Also, remember the most concentrated French influences in Canada are in the eastcoast, so strong to the point that almost broke Canada into two pieces. I am definitely not surprised to see AF to fly to Montreal and Toronto, but Paris- Vancouver may not necessary be a very profitable business.

Hi! well Air France may not be flying to YVR, but Air Transat flies twice a week during the summer. They Use their brand new A333-200 via Manchester or the L1011-500 via YYC. They give an excellent service!!

Well, you can't compare the Air France's service with the Air Transat one...

I don't believe you can drink as much Champagne as you want on Air Transat...
