Aeroflot Service.

Sun Jun 06, 1999 1:27 pm

Aeroflot usually has some charters into YVR a few
times a year using IL-62 aircraft. Does anybody know
the next time they'll be in Vancouver? I know they
fly to SEA, SFO, and LAX, so that's probably why they
don't come into YVR much. Also, are there flights from
the West Coast to Moscow?

Best Regards,

YVR (Richard)

Hi I'm Ben. How are you?
I don't know how often they fly to Vancouver, I didn't even know they did. Go to the Aeroflot's website, you'll know more than I do about this airline.
I don't know if they fly direct to the West Coast from Moscow, but if they do they would operate a 777-200IGW on those flights, not an IL-62. I think it's the aircraft that has the longest range in Aeroflot's fleet. They have 777 don't they? I know they don't have any 747-400's (in fact they have never had any 747 at all). The IL-62 wouldn't fly Seattle/Vancouver-Moscow nonstop would it? So if you saw an IL-62 in Vancouver if must have stopped somewhere for refuelling, maybe Reykjavik, Gander,...I don't know. Or maybe it went the other way around through the 180° meridian and then landed in Anchorage for the same purpose.
Oh by the way, have you ever been on Aeroflot? I have never traveled with them but I heard the service on board is not too good.

I don't think the B777 flies to vancouver. I think it only goes to JFK. Aeroflots service is not the best but it's alright..

According to the Feb. 1999 issue of the OAG flight scheds. it is as follows:

LAX-MOW is a 767 (300) and is a non-stop
SFO-MOW is an IL 96-300 and has one stop
SEA-MOW is an IL 96-300 and is a non-stop...maybe the SFO flight comes through here?

I know that SFO-MOW was a non-stop flight with a 767-300 a little while ago...I have seen it on the bags the Aeroflot employees carry around at SFO...says:

767-300 Non-stop
San Francisco to Moscow

Just wondering, when did Aeroflot get 767-300?
I didn't know about that!

They got them a while ago...the 767-300's are in the 8 door config.
