What Plane Is This At Lax?!?!

Sat Jun 16, 2001 3:29 am

I was outside today, and the planes take off out of LAX and go out to sea, do a U-turn, then come back over land... when they do, my house is below that in Arcadia and Pasadena, CA. My friend and I saw this one plane that was over Pasadena, heading NE over the San Gabriels and was either a 767 or a 777 (maybe a 757, but unlikely). It was white with white engines and had an AQUA colored tail. Not dark blue or anything... but AQUA. Does anyone know what airline this is?! I saw it yesterday too and both days it has been about 630pm.

Thanks a ton!

Sounds like a C-32A, a US government version of the 757, it has a light-blue tail, but then again it has blue engines... ??

747-600X---

The plane had white engines. I wanna say that it had the same AQUA colored wingtips... but I dont know if it was the sun shining on the green wingtip lights. I couldnt tell if it had wingtips or not.

Ansett Maybe?? Actually I think Air Canada is sending a few of it;s planes on lease to ANsett already painted, and they go through LAX the first one left two days ago, and they are 767's.

Ansett sounds good but why would they turn back and head northeast?

It's gotta be a new paint scheme on one of Delta's newly painted 767's. Almost positive!!

But doesnt Delta's tail have red in it? I could clearly see that it was aqua colored. Maybe it was Ansett.

Thats VERY VERY close! That tail looks right... but I am positive it had 767 type engines... like GE style. Does Corsair have any 767's?

Yes the Tail does have red in it, but the red is higher up on the tail not on the bottom.

Thats true about the red on the tail, but I have seen Delta fly over my house hundreds of times and I can spot that airline without question.

The previous message about Corsair seems closer, because of the Aqua colored tail.

I see the picture. But your Delta 767 has a CHROME bottom with red/white/blue engines and a tail with red at the top. What I saw was a WHITE belly with solid WHITE engines and an AQUA colored tail with 0% red in it. Like I said, I can spot Delta with no problem at all.

Does Air New Zealand operate their 767's East bound? Lately, more than usual, I have been seeing their 767s at LAX. I know they fly the 744 LAX-LHR. But is it possible for ANZ to have used the 767 to LHR? Maybe the plane could have been that.

It could have been an NZ763 as they have 763's operating via the pacific from AKL arriving in the afternoon departing in the evening. It would not have
been going to LHR.

ATA has a few blank 757's with a blue tail. I bet you it was one of them.

Mjb69---

That would be close... but the tail had no color besides the aqua.. so no red "AW" on the tail.

A previous post said something about a plane with white nacelles and aqua tail... any pictures?!

Thanks!
