I don´t know exactly if N4 (Aerolineas Internacionales) returned the DC9, but I remeber it was based at Curnavaca Mariano Matamoros Airport, so we didn´t get the airplane here in MEX so often. It will be dumb to return it, because it flew the Cuernavaca - Acapulco route and if you get the B727 in that route the airline will never be profitable, because the 727 was designed for medium range. Well there are many things I don´t understand about Aerolineas Internacionales.
There are no news about inflight entertainmen on ZE (Azteca) I will bet they are getting the Flip-up TV´s because they plan to go international and for those destinations it will be boring to take a flight and don´t have some kind of entertainment.
I don´t know the exact delivery day, but it is close, believe me. Today Boeing made the first official delivery of a NG B737 to a Mexican corporation. Grupo Omnilife S.A. of Guadalajara, Jalisco took delivery of:
Aircraft: B737-7EJ BBJ
if you want more information on this delivery go to:
Mexicana changed the equipment on the GDL-TIJ-GDL route because they drop TIJ as a big destination for them. Since CINTRA took control of AM and MX, MX had to stop flying the MEX-TIJ route non-stop, they only fly the route with stops in GDL, ZCL, SLP and some others, so they don´t get most of the business man and the route no longer supports the B757, that is why they send the B727´s and the A320´s. I know that AeroMexico still flys the GDL-TIJ route with a B757, and they also use the MD80´s to make it profitable.
