Airports That Lose Your Luggage

Mon Jun 18, 2001 7:49 am

Im off to Frankfurt from Belfast on Tuesday changing at London Heathrow and I've started worrying about my luggage getting lost in the transfer (so many bad storys lately). Can somebody tell us which are the worst airports for mislaying your luggage so people can avoid connecting at them?

Airports don't lose luggage ... airlines do!

The only airline that has ever lost by luggage is United.

That was on a United Shuttle flight SFO-SAN.

Your chances for lost luggage are actually much greater when you make connections as opposed to flying direct, and they increase even more if you are transferring interline.

Considering your itinerary ... would it be possible for you to travel light and just carry everything on?

How can I travel light, Im going to Frankfurt for three months.

I thought it was the ground luggage handlers in the airports that loose your luggage rather than the airlines.

The ground handlers that handle your luggage work for the airline, at least that's the way it's done in the US.

I have heard of airports in Europe that do their own luggage handling, but I would assume that it is done through a contractor.
