Airliner World Says PIA Wants 8-10 New Planes 2003

Tue Jun 19, 2001 2:57 am

In the latest issue of Airliner World magazine. They have a special feature on PIA. It suggests that they are planning to purchase 8-10 new planes by 2003/4 the latest.

Mainly to replace their ageing Airbus A300's which cost alot to maintain and air worthy. The a/c fleet manager mentions that they will be looking for aircraft with similar capacity.

Which type of aircraft could this be ?

Well the likely replacement for a A300 would be a A330-200....a very succesful plane specially in the region. But this is not the first time i have heard that one of PIA's planes are to be replaced. Literally stories like this have been coming up every year, atleast once, for the last 6 to 7 years. How much they have materialised is infront of you. Sadly the only thing that happened in all this time is the leasing of the 5 CX 743's. I would'nt get my hopes high at all.
