JMC A330

Fri Jun 22, 2001 7:03 am

Saw on a website that jmc have two A330 being delivered in Oct this year and another next year.
Any thoughts on this from other members?

They would sure look nice in the jmc colours!

JMC is the worst airline for service reliability and overall those JMC colours are the ugliest in the uk!

JMC's A330-200s will be delivered in a 2-class layout, in common with other UK charter airlines' long-haul aircraft.

The A330s will also have a PTV in every seat like Airtours' A330s.

Hope JMC's A330s look better than the B757-300 does in their livery, like the 757-300 but it doesn't look good in JMC colours!

The aircraft will be leased from CIT Group;
G-OJMA c/n [427] Is due November 2001
G-OJMC c/n [456] Is due March 2002

I take it 2 of the 3 will be LGW based and the other MAN based or the other way round? Or 1 each at MAN and LGW, and the other going through different airports each day, eg NCL,GLA,BHX etc.

They fly B757/200-300, so why don't take B767/300er o 400er that can be use by the same pilot??

GKirk,
JMC only have 2 A330s on order! The first will be delivered in November, the second in March 2002. One based LGW, the other based MAN.

Airblue,
JMC did look at the B767-400ER, and the -400ERX. The -400ER does not have sufficient range to carry a full load of passengers non-stop from the UK to Florida, Mexico and the Carribbean, especially under adverse conditions, or from shorter runways such as Birmingham or Newcastle. They were however interested in the -400ERX, but there was still uncertainty around that programme when they ordered the A330, and the A330 offered much earlier deliveries. Since the B767-400ERX has been cancelled, looks like JMC made the right choice...

Thanks Crosswind,

I don't live in UK, so I didn't know about the shorter runways in Birmingham and Newcastle and I forgot they operate also A320 so they can use with a short training their pilots on the A332.

A332 is good, but if they use a economy layout 2+4+2 is better than a 3+3+3, expecially on long-haul.

A330's and B763s are the perfect a/c for long-haul flights from NCL,BHX,GLA etc.
Oh well, read somewhere 3 but guess I was wrong. Do you know if the A330 will fly from NCL in JMC colours?

Sorry,
Next year JMC will only fly the A330 out of LGW/MAN/GLA. JMC Holidays have bought NCL-SFB seats from Airtours.
