Air France Pulling Out Of Cincinnati

Sat Jun 23, 2001 5:04 am

I have been scheduled to fly on AF from Cvg to Cdg on July 22 and return on August 13. I have had this booked for about six months when today on a Cincinnati radio talk show discussing the Comair situation, a caller said that Air France is going to stop serving Cvg due to low pax rates. I quickly checked the Delta and Air France websites and quickly realized this was true. In fact, the last AF flight out of Cvg is scheduled for July 21, one day before I was scheduled to leave. This is terrible as I will have to reconfigure my trip and also I may lose the chance to fly on an AF 747 as oposed to a DL 763. I will probably move my departure date up one day so I can be on the last AF flight from Cvg. I find this cancelation shocking as AF served cvg all winter with a 763 and then moved up to a 742. I don't understand why they just don't switch back to a 763. Any comments or info would be greatlt appreciated. Thanks.

There was an earlier post on an earlier forum stating that this was simply a suspension due to the Comair strike. As the strike is over, and operations are set to begin again with a gradual ramp-up over several months, I would expect to see at least an AF 767 or A310 at CVG once again.

They are not discontinuing service, it is being suspeneded due to low pax numbers because of the loss of feed from Comair. If you want to fly an AF 747 (744), then I suggest you connect with DL at ATL, MIA (afternoon flight is 744; night is 343), PHL, BOS, or JFK (don't know which flights are 744s). I think AF is usually using a 763 to CVG.

You can still fly Delta with Air France ticket, codeshare carriers, Skyteam alliance Smile

Call Delta Airlines for details on this flight.... inform them that AF is stopping CVG a day before your scheduled AF flight. Im sorry to hear that, ..... I am hoping that you makes the flight in time with Delta if they board you...

I will confirm that PHL does NOT have an AF 747. We have a 767.

BOS also does not have 747s. We have 767s, and in December we will be the first city to get the A330 from Air France.

We are talking about Air France with an Air France Boeing 747 between Cincinnati & Paris.. This has nothing to do with any other city.

If AF747 can not makes the flight out of Cincinnati by his date of travel, then he confirm to fly DELTA to JFK or ATL (DELTA hubs with Air France) and connect at either those 2 hubs, and then can fly to Paris... with either a Boeing 744 or a Boeing 777.  Smile

Now that the Comair strike is over, do you think that AF will resume this flight or at least use a smaller plane on it?

The flight will be back if it goes away, but don't expect to see another 742 on the route. It would make more sense to use an A340 on the route.
