Sigmets

Sun Jun 24, 2001 6:10 am

What are sigmets. I was listening to UA Channel 9 during a storm yesterday when the pilot turned to VOLMET. It said.."Connective sigmets over Wyominy, Arizona, Colorado, and eastern New Mexico." What does this mean? Also what is a microburst?? Thanks!

You heard "Convective Sigmets"...Those are significant weather reports which are significant for both small and large aircraft. Convective sigments are convective weather...usually thunderstorms.
