Wed Jun 27, 2001 9:28 pm

How many Asian airports have fast food franchises like McDonalds etc in them? Karachi has a 24 hour McDonalds restaurant in their parking lot, according to them its the only such outlet in the world Smile

INC (Seoul) has a spectacular, brand-spanking-new airport about 30 miles west of Gimpo (the old international and domestic airport that is now exclusively domestic). I was there two weeks ago and let me to you, it is amazing! They have Burger Kings, Pizza Hut, and KFC's throughout the terminal. For anyone who has been in Kimpo, the new airport is a dramatic upgrade in the highest sense of the word. It really is of the caliber of say Narita, Hong Kong Singapore, etc. I also flew domestically on KE from Gimpo and it really was a little sad to see the absence of all the widebodys there.
Sorry to go off topic a little...it's a great airport with a lot of amenities and more airlines serving S. Korea as well.

BKK has Mc Donald's. Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut (I think) as well as other American-Style diners (Chester Grill etc). However, as Thailand serves very good THAI food, those fast-food places don't get a penny out of me!
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

Why look for MuckDonalds when you can sample the local fare at many of these airports ? I'm guessing that if you're in an airport where you want to avoid the local food for hygiene reasons, these truly international restaurant chains won't be there anyway.

When you arrive at an airport, you've probably been fed recently (in the aircraft), so why not do a bit of recce'ing ? Then, you can decide if you'd be better off with a meal *before* you arrive at the airport on the outbound flight.

Of course, Japanese McDonalds have delightful local variations which you can't get elsewhere ... their wasabi chicken burger is very tasty  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I have been to many McD's overseas and one thing that gets my attention most is the styrofoam packaging. There was a big uproar in the US about this and I see that they just transferred the containers from the US to overseas. There are some interesting menu changes from one area to the other though.
