Do You Time Your Flights?

How many of you note the total flight time from takeoff to landing with your watch?

I used to do that when I was younger, but when my watch died, I never bought a new one, so consequently, I stopped timing my flights. But I did keep a few records to share:

What are some stats for some flights you have timed, longest, shortest, and average?

Interestingly, for me, the longest and shortest times for one segment were on the same route!

May 05, 1994:

From start of takeoff roll at LAX to touchdown at PHL:

Average stage length on this route is about 5:00

July 21, 1994:

Takeoff to touchdown:
6:37:26, due to in flight hold because of inclement WX @PHL.

April 1994:
America West 737-200
:29:10 (average stage length on this route is 35-40 min.)

No I don't time my flights but that is very interesting what you do, however. Very cool. Maybe I should start doing that.

What I do time is the amount of time I am stuck in an irport during a delay. Of course, I round it off to the nearest hour.  Smile
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

Longest flight - LHR-SIN - 14 hours 10 mins - BA 744

Shortest flight, Vientiane-Vientiane! - about 2 mins - Lao Aviation in some beat-up Soviet plane. We took off, had an engine catch fire and went round to land again!
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

I always use my stopwatch from take off and touchdown since when I was kid. I always jot down my flight logged trips.

I must plead guilty to this habit too. Ever since I was about 8, I've been using my stopwatch to time takeoff rolls and time elapsed between wheels up and touchdown. I usually jot them down on the back of my boarding passes and store them in a big box when I get home!

My longest quad engined flight was 15h 10m on a CX 744 LAX-HKG. My longest trijet flight was 12h 12m on an AA M11 LGW-DFW. My longest ETOPS flight was 9h 09m on an AI 310 DEL-FCO.

Shortest flight would be 0 minutes. Aborted takeoff at V1 due to flameout of the #3 engine at LHR.

Shortest actual flight would be a close run between a 22m DTW-CLE run on a CO B1900 and a 22m TYS-ATL run on an ASA CRJ.
