Saudi Arabian At LAX, Too!

Tue Jul 03, 2001 7:08 am

While having lunch and spotting off of Imperial highway, I saw a Saudi Arabian MD11 (I think it was an MD11 as I was quit a distance from it) parked at Lax today! I couldn't believe it. It was located off of the runways on the south side, and parked off to the side. I wondered why is was there (I've never known Saudi to have flights here, but I could be wrong). I was just happy to see it.

It's a Tristar. I drove right by it at work the other day.

Thanks Ben,

I didn't have my binoculars (I know, unacceptable for a airplane lover and spotter).

Hopefully it will still be there when I go back.

It must be a royal family aircraft configured in a VIP layout.Or it could have also been from Saudia Cargo.

May be the Disneyland attracts the Royal member from Saudi Arabia, and those royal members love it! Big grin

Btw, SV's LAX flight is code-share with UA for JFK-LAX sector.

Los Angeles is a favorite destination for members of the Saudi Royal family. Several members of the family do own homes in the LA area bought during the Gulf War days. In addition they often like quick 2-3 day shopping trips. Saudia often operates especially in the summer months 1 or 2 flights per week on behalf of the Royal family. While at LAX the aircraft park at the Mercury FBO. Types of aircraft range from C-130's/727's to the 747SP/747-300.
From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California

The answer is easy, Disney and Hollywood!

Saudi aircraft are regular summer visitors to LAX.
