Air Jamaica 737 To Lhr?

Wed Jul 11, 2001 2:35 pm

Am I crazy or do I correctly remember seeing an Air Jamaica 737 at Heathrow a few years back? Would this aircraft have the range to cross the Atlantic? I know previous discussions have indicated that no airlines cross the Atlantic with such small aircraft.

You would have seen an Airbus A310, Air Jamaica have never flown 737s. The A310-300s were used to LHR for several years until the new A340-300 was brought on board about 3 years ago. Only 1 of JM's present A310s can actually make the trip to LHR nonstop.

Trintocan got it spot on. JM never operated their own 737 but leased I can remember 1 from an airline in the Dominican Republic to do Montego Bay- Chicago.

AJ used to have two but sold one to another Carribean based carrier. Can anyone tell me if these A310s are their original equipment? I heard that some of these were ex PAN AM.

Is that 2 737's? If so that is incorrect. If not, ignore this statement.
The A310's were recieved from Delta in the middle 90's probably around 95. There were six of them but now only four so they probably let off a couple on other carriers. These however still bear US registration numbers for what I don't know, I guess they are still somehow owned by ILFC I think. Any aircraft bearing the 6Y-J** is owned by JM.
