Where Do These Ageing Jets Fly To?

Sat Jul 14, 2001 4:34 pm

I am wondering whether anyone out there can help me with something I am investigating.

What cities do the following aircraft, which will all, in the not to distant future, be out of passenger service, fly to.

Qantas (to/from anywhere in Australia)
747SP
747-200
747-300

Singapore Airlines (to/from Changi)
A310

Thai (to/from Bangkok)
A300
MD-11

Northwest (to/from anywhere in the US)
DC-9
DC-10

Finally, are there anyother scheduled airlines out there that still operate the L1011, DC-9, DC-10 and F28, preferably not US registered.

If posible, I need this info for the September/October period of this year. If any of the above aircraft are soon to be retired, could you please say so.

Thanks for any help anyone could give, it would really be appreciated. Oh for the days of paper timetables which were easy to use to find a/c types...  Big thumbs up

Cheers

V/F

Exactly.

Does the airline have to operate ALL of the mentioned aircraft? Because Canadian regional still operates F-28's. And Air Transat has L1011's

QF's 747SP (marked as 74L on CRS's and some timetables) fly SYD-CNS and SYD-HKG. I'm sure there must be other routes too.

TG's A300s are all quite new (2 years old or so) and are the -600 variety. Routes I know they're used on include BKK-SIN, BKK-CNX (Chiang Mai) and BKK-HKT (Phuket).
They're very nice to ride in, esp in biz class!

The TG MD11s are pretty much used solely for BKK-ZRH nowadays, with the ocasionally excursion to HKT.

As VonRichtofen said L1011's are used by AirTransat. They wil from 25-10-2001 onwards fly to Amsterdam Schiphol twice every thursday.
Another operator of the L1011 is Portugese charter airline Yes. Since it is a charter, I don't know where and when it flies. I have seen it once at Schiphol.
The DC-9 is operated by MAT Macedonian Airlines.
The DC-10 are used a lot by Northwest. Here to Schiphol is a great airport. Every day there are rougly 10 DC-10 at Schiphol. DAS Air Cargo also comes to Schiphol with its DC-10's.
As far as I know F28 are in Europe only used by Air Botnia. These planes wil be retired though very soon. Some of their F28 are already put in storage (at Woensdrecht in the Netherlands).

BWIA uses the TriStar 500 from POS, Trinidad to LHR daily. The flight stops in BGI, Barbados 3 times weekly, twice weekly in UVF St. Lucia and twice weekly in ANU Antigua.

For an F28 you could try Air Nuiguini! Would not recommend Port Moresby as a place to visit though.

I wouldn't really say that Thai's A300s and MD11s are ageing. They're not that old.

Although in the technical sense of the word, they are getting older, so I suppose they are ageing!!  Smile

TG 992,

Where did you get your info from? It's BS. QF does not fly 74L's from SYD-HKG.

It's mostly the infamous VH-NLH, B747-436 leased from BA that does SYD-HKG.
