BA 757 Retirement Schedule

Sun Jul 15, 2001 12:29 pm

With BA having made a deal to sell all of their 757's to DHL for conversion to freighters, what is the schedule for the eventual phase out of the aircraft?

I think that BA already started phasing them out now. The 757's at BA will probably be gone in 2005, if not earlier. I don't know anything more about that.
I flew on one from London to Brussels in 1999.

What's to replace them? That's a big deal for someone...

With 319's and 320's in the fleet 321 can't be too far behind

I think the plan is to have an all-airbus shorthaul fleet and an all-boeing longhaul fleet.
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

Sad to see...after all, as one of two launch customers, the 757 was BA's "baby".

They knew a good thing when they saw it. Fantastic airplane.

BA is replacing the B752 with A319´s and A320´s. Their new strategy is to reduce seats on most of the routes and if they have big demand, increase frequencies. They are doing the same with the long houl fleet. B777´s (fewer seats) are replacing B744´s.
