I don't know whether I should believe this one or not. This might be the next "AeroMexico will acquire 747-300 for the new MEX-ROM route". We all got so fooled with that one!
Well, logically speaking, I've always believed that a Mexican airline should expand into Europe via Cuba. If they can get 5th freedom rights on the routes they can't go wrong. The thing is that they need to build the market until they can go about it nonstop so they can get those big bucks business travelers that fly between Germany and Mexico.
The thing that doesn't make sense is that Mexicana does not have the equipment to start such services. I wonder what aircraft they intend on flying. These might just be "official corporate rumours".
By the way, I have been dying to know this but Mexicana announced not too long ago that they were going to start a direct once a week GDL-HAV route and also start flying to Santiago de Cuba from Mexico City. Was this true or where they just lies? In the mean time I found out that AeroCaribe stopped flying to Varadero, Cuba.
