Westjet Flashing Landing Lights

Mon Jul 23, 2001 11:19 pm

Hey all,

I was at YWG last week and while doing some spotting from the observation deck, I noticed that Westjets B732's have flashing landing lights.
Does anyone know why they flash?
Don't misunderstand me, these were not the red anti-collision lights or the white strobe lights, these were the main landing lights at the wing root.
I thought it was strange as I have never seen this on an a/c before. None of our planes at AC have flashing landing lights.
So, what's the purpose of them on Westjet?

You might want to do a search on this, as the topic has been covered repeatedly...

Westjet got their 732s from WN, some of them. The 732H4s have flashing wing lights. It was an option Southwest wanted. The 73GH4 does not have them, or so I hear.
