Wedding Or Even A Party... On A Big Jet?

Tue Jul 24, 2001 1:15 am

I was just thinking about this and wondered if it ever happends.

Has anyone ever been married on a big jet?

How about a party? Do people ever take the seats out and dance or whatever?

Thanks,
Hank  Big thumbs up

The captain on an airliners should have the same right to marry a couple, as the captain on a ship. I don't know if it is like that, but it should be...

I remember that a japanese family chartered a JAL 747 in the mid 70' for a wedding and party, circling around japan.

Not bee on one, but here at STR you can rent a Tupolev 154 for these occasions.

Sometime during the last 2 years, Air Jamaica in conjunction with the Lifetime cable channel televised a wedding on an Airbus A310 from JFK to MBJ. I believe it was part of program called "Weddings of a Lifetime"

Some charter flights get a little out of hand...

I recall a story from a few years ago where a flight crew was reprimanded for allowing some attractive women to visit the flight deck and sit on their laps...

Apparently, a blonde on your lap = a slap on your wrist.

many years ago, there was an article in one of the many guiness books of records which stated that on one particular Lufthansa flight from FRA to NRT (perhaps SEL, i´m not sure) there were 12!!! japanese couples which got married.
i believe that was in the early eighties and the aircraft was a 747-100 or -200.
although that was a regular, scheduled flight, i think we can assume that all these weddings did not take place by pure coincidence...

cheers

I heard about the wet t-shirt contest. This was on a 727-200 flight SEA-CAN. This was a high school graduation charter. The pilots I heard got a slap on the wrist but man was the FAA pissed off by the incident. I don't know if this company os still in business. They own a fleet of 2-4 727s. I forgot them name of this airline.

I wonder, if you wanted a flight say DEN-RNO-DEN where the wedding was in the air and the reception was in RNO, then everyone flies back, could you call United or Delta or whomever and charter a jet for that?

Say you had 150 guests or so -- I would assume that it would be cheaper to charter a 727 or 737 than it would be to buy 150 tickets on a revenue flight.

Would the majors do that sort of hing?
