Model Numbers

Tue Jul 24, 2001 11:42 am

Why is it that most models (for example, 727) come in a couple of models as most airliners do (-100, -200, -200Adv.) But when distinguishing these models for each airline, the model number can be any combination of numbers?

Just interested.
Cheers,
Rick.

I know for ANZ their customer number with Boeing is 19 for example 747-419.
QANTAS is 38 for example 767-338er.

Thanks Notar and Dave. I checked up at QANTAS' website and all their Boeing aircraft are definately 38. 737-338, 767-338/ER. What about others including letters as well? Thanks for your input. I feel like a bit of an imbicile... Or is that imbecile?

Cheers,
Rick.
