Montenegro As. Wonts To Return?

Fri Jun 18, 1999 5:08 pm

As you all know the Balcan Region was up for a war in some 2-3 months. The Montenegreenian flag currier based on Podgorica Airport has moved its 2 airplanes to Greece and than to Italy waiting for the better situation. After all this time they are trying to go back to Tivat International Airport but the Serb autorities do not wanto to give their OK for flying over the SERB teritory, and we are still one state, it is a nonsense. I hope for a better days to my lovely and very small country.

Good luck for the future of your country.
Could you explain what kind of planes your flag carrier owns and where they fly to, or at least they used to
Thanks and bye

Well, they started in 1997 after a big polemic with JAT ( Jugoslovenski Aerotransport ) on using the two Montenegreneean Airports. First they leased one than the second Fokker F28/4000 starting regular passenger and charter service from Tivat and Podgorica to Belgrade, Bari, Rome, Istambul, Ljubljana, Budapest, Zurich, Francfurt and some others European cities. They were excluded from the Euro-Us embargo to Yugoslavia and they continuated to flu untill March. After signing a contract for exchange and training of the flight attendants with Air Europe they were planning to lease an B762 or 763 for long-houl flights, especially to NY but this plann blows up as many bombs all around. If you want to see theirs livery try on Airliners net search forum they have some 10 pics of the 2 Fokkers, digit MONTENEGRO Airlines.
