Whats this? hmmm....is this even possible? hmmmm...How many of you in the past fourteen months have enocountered a United Employee that didnt seem to care, give a damn, or was just not friendly? Im sure that most of you have.
Why? Good question. Well, as you all know United attemped to merge with US Airways. Now that idea has been scraped.
In the past 14 months, I have observed very unhappy, as well as rude employees deeling with the passengers as well as not those that are not on the front line.
Well...all of that has changed. The other day, I took United home from MCO to SFO via DEN. I was on an A320 as well as a 777. In MCO the agents were more than accomadating to me and my needs, as well as friendly. We had our share of laughs.
On the A320 flight, I encountered some of the most awsome flight attendants that I have flown with. One of them wants to be a pilot and we talked about that. On the 777, the flight attendants were doing what they can to get the passengers to laugh, and all together the crews that I dealt with were some of the happiest that I've seen for a long time.
What I think that it has to be is that the merger is over. There was a stigma that came around with that merger. It was a sign of evil. A very bad evil. Now that evil presence has been lifted and United can be friendly again.
United has done a complete 180 is a matter of days. The morale of all of the employee's that I've dealt with over the past few days was so high. I couldnt belive it. I forgot that I was on United.
Having a happy workplace is the first step to success. This reflects to our passengers, and hopefully people come back to United. In time, Im hoping that our planes go out with more and more passengers.
Reality still needs to set in. United still has a lot of work ahead of it. The higher morale is great, but now the morale will increase if there is a change in upper managment. Happy employees is the first step to having United do its turn around into the great carrier that it once was.
After the working force likes comming to work daily, United can concentrate on improving their overall service, and bring passengers back.
No more empty Planes!
The point of my post is to make an observation to everyone that United is getting better. Thats all. I can only hope for the best for United. I think that we are on the verge of a turn-around, atleast one can hope so.
I'll get off of my soap box now.
