Even when they do resume service to Sydney, will they be able to sustain it? Not many people are too keen on flying into Colombo now. Eventhough, the sucurity at the airport has been stenghtened some 3 times! (news from a friend who flew out from Colombo on 2/8/01)

Passengers flying out now from CMB, have to stop some 10km away from the airport and then they will be transported there by army vans. They have to endure some 3 checkpoints (ids, passport shown) before entering the checkin hall! Not to mention the airport itself is surrounded by some 100+ army personnel.

The airport itself is now almost unpreganable, a bit like Fort Alcatrez! I can't see any danger now...

Who wants to travel through a place like this with this kind of 'feel'?

It may have beautiful beaches - but so do many other countries... this security is necessary, but its a killer to the vacationing mind.

Its very unwelcoming to have to go through the above!
