as asked in a previous thread, what % of FJ traffic goes straight through from OZ & NZ to USA mainland via NAN without stopping over. I think the percentage in the past must have been very high, but now it seems the short-haul OZ/NAN seems to take precedence. At busy periods like the roughly weeks of Xmas school holidays in Australia from mid November to early February it seems hard to find a cheap seat to NAN from anywhere in Australia (Was looking at someones CRS) whereas NAN/LAX & NAN/SFO flights seem to have plenty of cheap seats.
Can anyone shed any light on this ?
FJ were almost always the cheapest direct operator EG. SYD/LAX but not anymore.
Don't FJ have a problem, in that OZ & NZ to NAN are very full over school holidays but not the NAN/LAX-SFO flights. Surely they need to find either another aircraft or 2 to get pax to NAN so they can continue onto LAX or SFO or these NAN/SFO-LAX flights will never ever be able to fill
OR
do Americans book their flights to Fiji & not beyond very late ? Get the impression that most Australians & Kiwis going to USA or Canada via USA in Xmas school holidays, have in the majority booked by now, or am I wrong ?
Anyone have any real figures on any of these flights ?
Although Australian school holidays go in total for about 10 weeks NOV-FEB, get the impression, that pax in general depart over about a 6 week period from mid-Nov to early Jan, but all want to return mid-late Jan. Is that the case ?
