Downloading ticket data in bulk

Mon Dec 04, 2017 12:25 am

Hi guys, I'm planning a holiday with multiple stopovers. Is there any way of downloading in spreadsheet form the ticket prices of route?

Prices can fluctuate nearly 100% depending on demand. So as I have no set dates, if I can get the data in a table I can plan the trip and probably save $1000+.

From Australia I plan on seeing a few of these destinations: New Zealand, Fiji, California, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Japan and Thailand.

Obviously flying different airlines and aircraft types are an added bonus for an aviation enthusiast.

Cheers

Airline pricing is very dynamic and changes constantly.

In the US the airline clearing house APTCO alone processes 3.9 million fare changes a day!

No sooner than you create a list, will the pricing information have changed.

I agree that domestic prices do change rapidly a day or two before the flights.

I would be doing this a month or two out from the trip, so more stable prices. I doubt they would change much within an hour. I could also see prices trends. Some days are cheaper on one airline but not on another.

You can access fares on websites like Expertflyer but the filed fare price is irrelevant without knowing the inventory being sold (this is also shown on EF, but all it takes is for the airline to close a fare bucket and all your data is wrong.

My advice - if you see a reasonable fare, then book it and piece the trip together as you go.
