The ironic thing about all this complaining about colors, is that what you're likely going to get (if any of these airlines radically changes) is just more EuroWhite-with-writing.

More and more airlines are realizing that there just isn't that much equity in painting their aircraft various colors, beyond their corporate insignia. Don't be surprised when the change you're wishing for, brings you more sorrow than what you have now.

Ryanair. Current logo is from their 732 days.

I also think that the United logo is so boring and looks dated in comparison to American and Delta, both of which are modern, and extend beyond the livery.

Emirates could do with a new look too.

I would say:

Ryanair
Phillipines Airlines
Singapore Airlines
Westjet
Copa Airlines
Viva Aerobus (all of them)
United Airlines
Royal Air Maroc
Air Algerie
Tunisair
Blue Panorama
Flying Together

If you're going to do euro-white, at least get the font to a high standard, please.

MU's font is horrific - it looks like something out of Microsoft Paint, gone wrong.

He didn't buy the whole airline NIKI, only some parts of it. Some sources say therefore, he wouldn't be allowed to use the name NIKI. I guess, he'll bring something new anyway...

UA for me has one of the oldest liveries, but I like the way they placed the golden line on their 787, taking off the grey bottom.
Af just got their logo updated, didn't they? At least on their 787.
I don't actually like AT's livery as well. Too simple.
CP seems to be copying UA's livery.

best choose an all white scheme with a few decals above the windows, that way it'll be easier for the leasing company when he goes bust yet again.

On the overall subject of changing liveries, does it ever sell more seats, or the same seats at a higher unit cost ? do prospective fliers say to themselves "I will choose UA over DL as they've updated their livery"
If the answer to this is "no they don't" its all a colossal waste of time and money

Agree CA... It needs a more powerful livery as the flag carrier of China.

I really hope CI doesn't change.. it was the airline that took my overseas for the first time and I really have a soft spot for their colours and the plum blossom logo.

My vote goes to Aer Lingus. Now they need to keep the general theme just tweak it slightly, a bit how KLM modernised theirs by a few subtle changes. The font could also do with a slight tweak.

I'd love to see British Airways do an update soon. The Chatham livery dates back to the mid 90's and has well outlasted in time terms, the Landor and Negus schemes before it. I'd update the flag, redesign the font, perhaps even a large billboard 'BA' instead, (given the constant 'Londonification' of the operation), lose the blue nacelles and return to Negus era, silver/grey or polished metal engines.

Looking at that hybrid BMI/BA liveried A321 that was around for a short while, I feel they could do that in a kind of reverse, with the upper fuselage blue and lower white swapped around, and include the red tail planes, in a tribute to former BEA colours.

Perhaps reinstate the original Speedbird motif too...? If the current trend of minimalist white with a painted tail is where we're going then just update the flag, and go with the Open Skies scheme, changing the name to a large BA.com graphic instead.

I don't understand why everyone says JAL needs a new livery. JAL are not Etihad or Emirates who try to wow everyone with their palacial first class apartments. JAL are a sleek, smart airline whose brand represents Japan. The image of the UAE where peoples perception is filled with oil rich Arabians driving sports cars through sunny Abu Dhabi is reflected in Etihads livery. It's the same with JAL who represent Japan. The worlds idea of Japan is not the same as the UAE or Thailand, and JAL's current livery is a great no-nonsense, efficient livery which reflects many peoples idea of Japan.

Air New Zealand. I hated their current colour scheme the first time that I saw it, and I hate it just as much today. With the black paint and silver fern it is trying too hard to be patriotic. It’s nauseating. Red necks presumably like it.

You've got to be kidding right? The all blacks is the most eye catching livery of all especially on the widebodys. I think Scoot needs a refresh, maybe it's the awful color or the fact that their livery looks like graffiti but that whole scheme needs a redo.

Airlines that I think should update their livery:

1. China Eastern its horrible just horrible
2. United (I don't think they should have kept the CO paint at the merger, should of made a new livery all together)
3. BA - I know I'm gonna get a lot of crap for this.
4. Avianca I know its new paint but I really don't like their current livery
5. Copa
6. China Southern

NO LUFHTY DOES NOT NEED TO BE CHANGED

I was just looking at pictures and thought that a number of airlines need either a new or at least revised version of their current livery.

What are your thoughts??

Airlines that cater to mind

UA (I think they need a whole new look)
JAL (I know they went back to their old livery not too long ago but it needs a re-work)
ANA
LH (I know it's been talked about)
AF (their current livery is stuck in the 1990's)
CA (same problem as AF)
KE (getting old)

JL - Yes, it's boring, but it works. Although yes, I do like their "Arc of the Sun" livery more
NH - No problem at all. Simple yet elegant.
AF - Don't see why they should get a new livery either. For me, it does work well.
LH - Just need tweaks, but it's iconic for me.
KE - Do you want KE to go Eurowhite also? :rotfl: :rotfl:
CA - Yes, it's stuck in 70s. But do you want an HNA group style over the top red livery? I don't. And if anything, you know if they change the livery it'll look like what MU's current livery look like (i.e. Remove the cheatline, change the font of Air China and its Chinese name, done) :white: (Same can be said for CZ). Of course, if they can do what SU has done for its livery, it'll be really good.
UA - I personally just think the CO deathstar and "United" just doesn't match. It's not really THAT bad, though.

Add another one:
AI - Seriously, SpiceJet, Jet Airways, and IndiGo look WAY better than AI's livery.
HY (Uzbekistan Airways) - The ugliest livery I can think of. Even the much simpler T5 (Turkmenistan Airlines) look better than it. If anything, its neighbor, KC (Air Astana), show how you can create a nice livery without going over the top.

This of course, but the fly as such also will most likely not return. It comes from the provisional name that NIKI had at the beginning:

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niki_Luftfahrt

"Niki aviation GmbH arose from Aero Lloyd Austria GmbH, which was taken over by Niki Lauda in majority in November 2003 as a result of the insolvency of the German parent company Aero Lloyd. At first the provisional name was flyniki."

Take a look at Laudamotion-website

https://www.laudamotion.com/home/

to get an idea what colours and font might be used in the new upcoming design.

It could imagine though he will "develope" it slightly to distinguish it from the business-charter company...

I know it puts us in the minority, but I agree with Bestwestern that EK could use an update - they have never changed and it's time for a refresh, I think.

UA need to completely re-brand, livery is only a small part of that.
I happen to think CA's livery looks particularly good on the 748's so for that reason alone I hope they don't change
MU - I agree with almost everyone that it's a disaster of a livery that needs to go in the dustbin asap
Xiamen should go with the special livery on their new 787 as their standard livery instead of the one they currently use

Ok, I clearly remeber seen at least 4 Delta liveries and don't live in Atlanta nor in US.
I count 4:

And Delta museum confirms 4 liveries in 20 years:

I wouldn't touch LOT at all. Very simplistic but just right.
UA is as ugly as it gets.
ANA generally I like it but I always feel like something is missing/looks unfinished.
DELTA maybe something but not far off.
LH, I like what they did. A lot.

Spirit Airlines....Please!

I guess I'm the only one that likes NKs yellow livery lol.

Can anyone with photoshop skills send me a PM? I have a request to make a fictional UA livery but I don't have neither the software nor skills to do so.

I actually like Spirit's yellow livery also. Too bad when jetBlue first started they rejected David Neeleman's "Taxicab livery" idea. :stirthepot:

I did found a member (f18raider) making some really nice Spirit livery, though (from 4 years back):

I'm not a fan of the cartoonish, gimmicky schemes that the Canadian vacation airlines use (Air Transat and especially Sunwing).

I found Air Transat livery to be pleasant. Sunwing reminds me of easyJet :scratchchin: . But hey, that livery scream "cheap" and it's what Sunwing aimed to be :stirthepot:

Philippine Airlines.

The Microsoft Paint livery as I like to call it.
More like the Microsoft Word livery. Same goes with MU, but God they're much worse. At least the 'Philippines' font looks semi-decent! (well, except on the 77W).

Actually, for me the only thing that PR need to change is that font of "Philippines". It just look...off.

First, I am not fan of the "throw any colors together" method of Flybe (Purple, Orange, Red and White) or Southwest (Blue, Red, Gold).

Second, I really am not a fan of Alaska Airlines tail image. It just feels politically incorrect somehow. Although I guess in that case I have to dislike Hawaiian too. They are basically the same concept.

I guess I'm not a fan of people's faces on a livery.

In which case, color me a big thumbs down to Norwegian.

FlyBe’s current livery is incorporating the colours of their previous brand Jersey/British European and was meant to update the airline but I agree I think it does look like a bit of a mishmash with the majority of the aircraft being purple, I think if they tidied it up a little bit it would look quite smart

I think Danish Air Transport needs a new livery at the minute it looks like an aircraft that’s been held together with different parts from different airlines, one airline that’s recently updated their livery is Jet Time, I think it looked fine with the grey and mustard the only thing I’d change would be the grey cheat line which looked like paint was peeling off now it looks like they’ve tried too hard to incorporate the grey and mustard with the new blue and the tones just don’t work.
Blue Panorama for me needs a complete update, I’m not sure what it is but what I do know.. is it’s ugly

This will be a great livery if they rebrand it
