Question about connection in LAX

Fri Feb 02, 2018 1:08 am

Hello all,

Question in regards to connection in LAX:
My company booked me round trip from SAT - YVR in June and I see that I have a 41min connection on the return flight from YVR to LAX.

I understand if it wasn’t a valid connection they would not offer it, but is that really enough time coming in from another country ? I’m on United . I’m assuming I’ll have to go through customs once we land .

I know it’s a ways off and things can change just interested in others opinions .

The lax to San Antonio flight is the last nonstop for the night as well!

You will be clearing US Customs at YVR so once you land you will just go to your connecting flight.

With that being said is that typically enough time in LAX?

The flight arrives as a domestic flight (as COPolynesianPub stated, you go through US Customs in YVR). If both legs are United then they should be both in Terminal 7/8 so as long as the first flight isn't delayed you should be OK.

Connection should be fine. Double check to see if the YVR-LAX segment is on UA or if it’s code-shared with on AC metal.

That's plenty of time to walk between gates in T6/T7/T8. With LAX gate availability and delays while taxiing seem to be the main pitfalls...

I wouldn't worry about this connection at all. Same airline, same terminal, same ticket.

Even if you are on a AC codeshare flight for the YVR-LAX portion, it will only take maybe 10 minutes to walk from T6 to the far end of T8.

Keep in mind you have to be on board the aircraft 10 minutes before departure. So effectively your connection time is only 31 minutes. But if both legs are on UA, then UA should be able to hold until you make your connection since that is the last flight out for the day.

And that is all assuming your inbound flight goes directly to an open gate after landing. Oftentimes flights at LAX are waiting for their gate to become available....been there done that.
